Maintenance

Maintaining Cool Temperatures

Please be advised that your Odin Ice Bath is weather resistant, not weatherproof. Due to the electronics in the compressor as well as the Red Western Cedar staves, the Odin MUST be undercover and in shade if outdoors. When indoors, please place in a well-ventilated space away from Saunas or Steam Rooms.

It is important to ensure that the Odin is undercover, away from direct sunlight and not kept in warmer climates exceeding 38°C. This will maximise the life of the Ice Bath and the compressor, preventing any malfunction and/or damage. If located outdoors in direct sunlight, the cooling performance will be impacted by 50% (it will be 50% less efficient) and can cause the compressor to overheat.

If your Ice Bath is being located indoors and the ambient temperature exceeds 38°C or located outdoors in direct sunlight, the cooling performance will be impacted. This can cause issues on refilling and cooling down your Odin Ice Bath. In higher temperatures, the Odin has to cool more frequently than when in cooler rooms or undercover.

Maintaining Your Water Quality

For a home-use we recommend replacing the water in the Odin every 2-3 months, depending on the degree of use and your own personal preferences.

For commercial use we recommend changing the water in the Odin minimum once a week (depending of the volume of people using the Ice Bath & Plunge)

For residential use you do not need to add chlorine as every Odin comes with an ozone generator. You also have an optional upgrade of UV sanitisation as well which will keep your bath cleaner for longer!

For commercial application most states require chlorine to be added to the water when you have multiple different clients. Always seek professional advice on water quality from your Local/ State city council & local pool/ spa shop.

Changing/ Cleaning Your Water Filter

The Odin Ice Bath feature a reusable 50 micron filter, which can last 6-12 months.

(Residential)

Recommended cleaning schedule:

For everyday personal use - clean/replace filter every 3-4 weeks, depending on degree of use and your personal preferences.

(Commercial)

Recommended cleaning schedule:

For heavy/commercial use -clean/replace filter every 1-2 weeks for your client peace-of-mind.

If you are using the Odin in conjunction with a sauna or after exercise, the filter will clog up faster, as heat opens up the pores to expose the bath to oils and sweat. If you’re noticing a significant reduction in flow rate, that is an indicator of the filter needing to be replaced.

Replacement filters can be purchased off our shop page.

Troubleshooting

Is The Odin Ice Bath 3.0 Leaking Or Is It Condensation?

Is My Odin Ice Bath/Odin Plunge Leaking or Is It Just Condensation?

If you're noticing water around your Odin Ice Bath or Odin Plunge, it's important to determine whether it's caused by a leak or simply condensation. Condensation is a common occurrence, especially in cold environments, and while it might seem like a leak, it is often harmless.

What is Condensation?

Condensation happens when water vapour in the air comes into contact with a surface that is colder than the surrounding air's "dew point." Essentially, this is the process of moisture in the air turning into liquid when it touches a surface that is cooler than the air temperature, like the metal or cold surface of your Odin Ice Bath.

Key Factors That Can Cause Condensation on Your Odin Ice Bath:

  • Direct Sunlight: Placing your Odin Ice Bath in direct sunlight can cause fluctuations in temperature, leading to condensation.
  • High Temperature or Humidity: High humidity or extreme heat—whether indoors or outdoors—can significantly increase the likelihood of condensation forming, especially when your Odin is cooling the water down to near freezing temperatures.
  • Low Airflow: Placing the unit in a room with poor ventilation or restricted airflow (such as a closed space or room with minimal air circulation) can trap moisture around the unit, resulting in condensation buildup.
  • Proximity to Saunas or Steam Rooms: Being near saunas, steam rooms, or other high-humidity areas can exacerbate condensation, as these environments increase moisture levels in the air.

Where Condensation May Form

You may notice condensation in one or both of the following areas of your Odin Ice Bath:

  • Housing located under the Odin: The area where all the components are stored can accumulate condensation if exposed to significant temperature fluctuations or high humidity.
  • Inlet and Outlet valves: The inlet & outlet valves beneath your tub may collect condensation due to the temperature difference between the water inside and the surrounding air.

How to Troubleshoot: Condensation vs. Leak

If you're still unsure whether the water you're seeing is from condensation or a leak, we recommend performing the following test:

  • Turn off your Odin Ice Bath: Power off your unit and allow it to sit for at least 24 hours.
  • Remove the Insulation Lid: Let the unit sit uncovered to allow any moisture or condensation to dissipate.
  • Wait for Room Temperature: After 24 hours, allow your unit to reach a room temperature of around 75°F (24°C). This will help you determine if the water accumulation was caused by condensation or if there’s a potential leak.

Important Note: Condensation Is Common, Especially in Humid or Cold Environments

It’s important to note that condensation is a natural byproduct of using an ice bath, especially one like the Odin Ice Bath that can reach temperatures as low as 0°C (32°F) and even create ice. When the bath is exposed to warm or humid air, condensation is almost inevitable. This is particularly true in indoor locations with poor ventilation or in high-humidity environments.

Why It Happens:

Since the Odin Ice Bath operates at very low temperatures, the cold surfaces of the bath can cause moisture in the air to condense, especially in warmer or humid surroundings. This is perfectly normal and should not be confused with a leak. However, ensuring proper ventilation and controlling temperature fluctuations can help minimize the amount of condensation that builds up.

By following these guidelines, you'll be able to easily distinguish between a leak and condensation, ensuring that your Odin Ice Bath is working as intended. If you suspect a leak after following these troubleshooting steps, please contact us for further assistance.

Issues With My Filter/ Dirty Water

Ice Bath:

Please refer to our Maintenance Tab to ensure you are continuously maintaining the water quality and the cleanliness of your Ice Bath and its filters.

  • Please ensure that you or your customers are showering prior to entering the Ice Bath as sweat, grime and sand can affect the filtration and the quality of the water.
  • Please do not use Magnesium, Epsom Salts or any other similar products as this can affect the filter.
  • For commercial customers, we do recommend the use of Chlorine or alternatively Hydrogen Peroxide.

** Please consult directly with your local city/state council and your local pool/spa with water sampling for testing.**
